Recently an interesting discussion was made on Joel on Software: What do you think about virtual US address?

My answer was extra-short and precise: I’m from Ukraine - the product is made in Ukraine too (but we have partners as in North America so in Europe). I’m sure that there is no reason to be ashamed of your country, is it popular or not.

I’m really sure that people who purchased Bookmark Base are confident about updates, future features and stability: almost all the time we’re answering support questions with certain solutions in 2-3 hours after request. And this depends on our responsibility, not on our country.

There are people who hate a country because they think the country should be hated. There are Americans who hate America because the media says it is “cool” to hate America.

As a steadfast American I find problems with Asia, and America, and …. but I find good points about Asia, and America, and ….

So, while I personally see no reason for anyone to have a virtual address there are many companies large and small that find the added expense to be beneficial. Recently a major oil company created a presence in Dubai to become more accepted in the Middle East.

I wish you luck in making the decision that benefits you and your company.

I believe company decision makers who get caught up in this type of “hype” do their shareholders a dis-service.
