New software download archive

I would like to present you a new software archive called PortableShareware.com.

We are going to list only portable software on it. Now we’re hardworking on new design and content sources.

We live in the modern world of computers, smart hardware and software, which are being created in order to improve our lifestyle and to help us in solving different problems. Lots of people have to work on more than one computer due to their jobs; therefore they waste time trying to adjust needed preferences and install required programs on every laptop or office computer they work on. Moreover, such activity leads to possible virus attack growth, because you may work on foreign computer and you don’t know how it’s protected of malicious programs. How these problems can be solved?

U3 company invented a new way of safer and more comfortable computing using smart drives! What are they? U3 smart drives are portable USB flash drives or CDs with already installed programs inside, which will launch on every computer even if the program isn’t installed on foreign computer! U3 brings the power of portable software to a USB device, turning it into a U3 Smart Drive. This revolutionary new smart drive offers a new mobile computing platform that enables you to carry smart software applications, PC settings, files and personal preferences wherever you go. It is the smartest way to work. “You just plug into any Windows 2000 or XP PC and work, play a game, message friends, send email, edit photos and more, all without worrying if applications are installed on the computer.” – U3.com website says. Every USB smart drive has U3 Launch List of all necessary programs. Moreover, you can download your own programs and work on any computer.

Does it really work? Yes, it does, moreover it is very comfortable, because you don’t need to carry laptops or thinks about software CD to make you job excellently. Nowadays, you can easily buy such equipment on the Internet, as there are lots of brands, which agreed to cooperate with U3 technology producing smart drives with their own features and Launch Lists. Ultimate portability, private, personalized and protected computing on shared PC are features of new U3 technology!

Welcome, freebie junkies!

One of my good friends, called Spy, suggested to give out some discounts for subscribing on “Release notifier“. “Why not?”, I said.

So, in the notifier mailing some coupon for our bookmark manager will be included. Oh, have I mentioned that “Bookmark Base” will be shareware tool?

Dozens of browsers

For the first version “Bookmark Base” will support MS Inernet Explorer, Mozilla and Opera browsers. They are major players and supporting them is a most foreground task.

Due to Jonathan Wight post about XBEL file format we decided to add it too. Yes, I admit some lack of knowledge, I never heard about XBEL before. But it’s never too late to mend.

But the thing that really impressed me last time - quantity of different browsers on this small planet. Usually everybody knows IE, FF and (not always) Opera. My personal audience estimation for their users is about 80% of total Internet auditory.

But this is not the end of a way, indeed. There are also *nix-users which are so serious, that usually recompile a browser for their own. Hello, S1ider :) There are Mac users who has Safari, Konqueror and a haughty look on Windows users. But unfortunately “Bookmark Base” is going to be only MS Windows compatible.

I get used to divide Windows-compatible browsers into the following categories:

  • Internet Explorer and all that Maxthons which use it’s kernel for rendering;
  • Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla suite. They also have lots of “children” like Flock or K-meleon.
  • Opera. Just Opera.

If anyone can extend this list (and my knowledge) - please, comment! Your feedback can easily affect on future of “Bookmark Base”.

See ya!

Progress is inevitable

Bookmark Base site is evolving. I made several good purchases and now site is powered by:

  • statistics system (thanks to Stuffed Guys);
  • customer support system (thanks to Omnistar);
    • ticket system;
    • live chat;
    • FAQ manager;
    • troubleshooter;
  • “tell a friend” feature (again thanks to Omnistar);
  • forum, which is actually free (thanks to XennoBB guys).

I hope that people will appreciate those efforts.

I’m planning to spend following week on customizing interfaces for all those systems to fit actual site design. If anyone would like to comment it - feel free to do that. Continue Reading »
